“Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Lord Acton, British historian.

Props A through F are bond issues totaling $625 million for the following public improvements:

$320 Street and drainage improvements.
$135 Police and fire.
$60 General improvements.
$55 Parks and recreational improvement.
$37 Libraries.
$18 Affordable housing.
$625 TOTAL

When voting on these bonds, Houstonians should first reflect upon these two facts:

  1. The City’s total bonded debt has greatly more than doubled in the last 10 years.
  2. The City, on a per inhabitant basis, has more than 2.5 times the debt of the financially plagued State of California.

Before getting more bond money, the City should give Houstonians a meaningful and verifiable accounting of where the bond monies have gone for the last 10 years.
